Let’s be realistic and admit, that there’s hardly anything about research optimization, which depends on design. It is surely quite a general statement that would make designers feel hurt immediately. However, it is true. Good design may help you in achieving optimization goals, if it does not prevent search crawlers to penetrate and read the site code, or if navigation about site is logical, and allows finding easily the object of search; and, finally, if the site pages are loading very fast.
In other respects, optimization depends on texts on the site.
First of all, to optimize the site, have a look at mega tags, i.e. headings, descriptions and key words. What do we see here? Words. And all of these require thorough selection. Moreover, what you see on the site home page? More words. These, unlike headings, descriptions and key words, are written for both search engines, and site visitors, i.e. potential clients.
Search engines worship words! Isn’t it splendid!
Considering all mentioned above, you may conclude that everything you need for search optimization are thoroughly selected and well-considered words – key words and phrases – in mega tags and main text of the site. This is nearly it.
However, in the first place, the words should be relevant. They should make people realize, what you sell and where you sell it. Main marketing principles are as follows:
(à) Goods description,
(b) Advantages of goods,
(ñ) Region of sales.
What you should not place on the site, is a wordy description of your Company size and the goods end user. Your potential client is smart enough, to define if he or she needs your goods. E.g., it is unnecessary to write “garden gloves are perfect solution for gardeners”, or you would just waste valuable space on your site. Promo texts are to be brief and clear – these are two important features thereof. So, how do you select all these key words, and phrases? First, you may acquire software, which generates mega tags for you. It is a wise decision; when there are so many good programs around, all of us ready to approve inventions facilitating our life. On the other hand, you may choose the way, which is more acceptable from the result point of view, and do it yourself. You might say: “Alas, I make no texts!” But you should not. Somebody has already done it for you. And it is not a plagiary issue. You won’t be a thief, if you carefully look through somebody’s literary ideas and adapt them to own needs. Before you formulate your key words and phrases, why not research things already created by your competitors. In this case, we mean serious competitors with top positions across main search engines using key words from your sphere of activity. Dig in the key words; investigate thoroughly the text of their sites; meditate over that special something they have making search engines place them on top. If you are embarrassed by being a bit cunning, salve your conscience by the thought that the authors of the leading sites might have borrowed their ideas from somebody else. And it will be easier for you to do so. And now, let’s pay our attention to principal things. We already know that the site stays or disappears from search results due to the quality of key words. However, their quality is assessed by search engines, not by lecturers teaching us language. That is why the quality assessment depends on search algorithms. And this is normal; we just get adapted to search engines, without attempts to gain the Nobel Prize.
Next important thing is that your home page should obligatory contain text rich in key words. The text should be seen and read easily, as well as easily accessed by search crawlers. The higher this text is on a page, the better for your site.
